Even the 2019-20 NHL season is right around the corner, and both puck bettors and sportsbooks are eagerly awaiting the official puck fall of the new effort as soon as the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues along with Washington Capitals kick things off on October 2. Chances are released on every NHL team to make or miss the playoffs, if you’re looking for another type of futures prop.
In BetOnline, the Tampa Bay Lightning are the most bizarre chalk to make the drama at -500, together with the Toronto Maple Leafs (-350), Vegas Golden Knights (-350), Colorado Avalanche (-300) and Boston Bruins (-300) right behind them.
When it comes to clubs that oddsmakers are giving the longest chance to go to the postseason, the Ottawa Senators (+625), Detroit Red Wings (+375), Los Angeles Kings (+275), Anaheim Ducks (+275) and Buffalo Sabres (+180) tabbed as the least likely to reach the promised land.
Value-wise, I’m all over the Chicago Blackhawks to contact the playoffs in their present EVEN chances. I think the’Hawks are being undervalued because of their few seasons that are underwhelming, but also the offseaon agent signing of Robin Lehner could do great things for their postseason hopes.??
Lehner was a Vezina Trophy candidate at his only season with the New York Islanders and can be set to join a Blackhawks team that has had no problem scoring goals but have??struggled to keep the puck. Corey Crawford’s best days are clearly behind him, so I believe Chicago could be in for a significant bounce-back season if Lehner can coast up things in between the pipes.
BetOnline is high on New York to make the playoffs in -145 odds. But in their +115 price I am more than comfortable to back them in the number. The Islanders were the surprise team of this 2018-19 year, but minus Lehner in the fold, so I still expect any regression on Long Island.
