Vincent Kompany says he will not play his testimonial night.
A host of Manchester City and also Premier League legends have been set to turn out for Kompany’s testimonial in the Etihad Stadium, live night.
Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, mario Balotelli and Robin van Persie are one of the star names that will be in action.
On the other hand, the Belgian himself says that he, ironically, will not be able to play due to a hamstring problem.
“Unfortunately I won’t be starting tonight or enjoying. It is typical of me, right? I am usually just there for the conclusion of the season,” Kompany stated.
“I have a slight hamstring injury. I couldn’t risk it tonight.
“We have got lots of awesome players to be seeing today and in a number of ways it is all about a party to say goodbye, it doesn’t have to be about the pitch because such.
“In exactly the same manner, we are doing it for an incredible cause. This takes priority.
“I will be present for David Silva and Kun Aguero’s testimonials.”
Reflecting on his 11-year stay at Manchester City in the Premier League, the 33-year-old was requested to pick out the very best defender at the Premier League era.
Kompany ruled himself out of this question due to his injuries but chose present Liverpool centre-back along with UEFA Player of the Season Virgil van Dijk out because the defender who has impressed him.
“Players that impressed when I played them at central defence, I would bring it back to Virgil van Dijk,” he explained.
“It’s a weird one because he hasn’t been around the scene for so long as these titles we mentioned, John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, these men were there for a long, long time.
“However, the indications he has revealed in the past few decades simply make it obvious that if he would have been in the very top, high degree before that he would have already been further also.
“From what I have noticed in terms of having an impact on the team, and a guardian is about himself, it is about his communicating with other guys and how you create your staff more solid.
“The Liverpool before van Dijk and also the one after him it is a very different set-up and I’ll give him that one because of this.”
