Shane Lowry insists he isnt putting himself to acquire the Race to Dubai and cap what has been the time of his profession.
Lowry began 2019 in Abu Dhabi with his Rolex Series victory, when he stormed into his significant title in front of his home fans at Royal Portrush, winning The Open by six 42, but he surpassed achievement.
The Irishmans stellar season has assured hes firmly in contention to terminate the season as European No 1 for the first time, and he will look to regain the lead at the peak of the Rush to Dubai standings in the Open was overtaken by Spanish Open champion Jon Rahm last week.
Obviously Id love to pass Jon this week, but ultimately, it is just going to matter whos No 1 at the end of November, said Lowry. I have lots of occasions made, I feel as if my game is great enough and I feel like I will give it a fantastic go. I am very enthusiastic about it, and it would be a fantastic end to what has already been a terrific year for me.
When I win the Rush to Dubai, then it will be good. Im not going to sit about it, if I dont, but it would be a massive factor for me to attain. So Im going to give it my best each day to take at the scores I can to win that trophy.
Ultimately, it is probably going to come down to the last couple of occasions. Im just going to continue doing exactly what Ive been doing. It is very exciting that I am there and Im looking forward to the challenge.
Clearly I want to keep attempting to pick up some Ryder Cup tips and maintain challenging myself every day to take the top scores I could, and just sort of keep enjoying my golfing, continue doing what Ive been doing all season, and to win the Race to Dubai, which would kind of top off what has been an extraordinary year.
Lowry and home favorite Francesco Molinari, the guy he replaced as Open champion will perform the opening two rounds in Rome, after narrowly missing out to the May along with the Italian is currently bidding for his third win on home soil.
Molinari still has memories of claiming his maiden European Tour victory at Castello di Tolcinasco at 2006, if he pipped Danny Willett to the title by a stroke, and the Milan supporters delighted again.
I feel the very first win on Tour, I never knew that it was coming and, obviously in the home, I think nobody really expected me to succeed at the start of the week, he said. You could practically feel the expectations rising through the entire week, and it was only an awesome relief on the 18th green, watching all the people there celebrating, plenty of friends and families.
I could not have asked for a better first win on Tour, however, the next one was very different. Many years afterwards, and obviously different circumstances and tastes from the beginning. I had a season , but I had not won in a couple of years.
At a home event, in case you begin well, you can feel the vibe shifting and people sort of expecting you to acquire and also to bring the trophy home. I just remember the back nine Sunday, actually not playing my very best golf, but just grinding hard and again, huge relief on the 18th green.
