Vegas, probably capitalizing on the enthusiasm that surrounds all the future celebrities, is currently doing so. Nowadays, betting under is one of this year’s simplest sports bets.
Joel Embiid isn’t guaranteed to keep healthier. Ben Simmons and markelle Fultz have played at a joint zero games. The rest of the roster is laden with upside, but they’re by no means sure to break and produce strongly positive benefits in 2017-18.
Lest we forget, the Sixers went 28-54 throughout the 2016-17 season. If you bet the over, you’re counting on a minimum of a 15-game advancement, and that’s rather a good deal to ask.
Of course, arguments exist to the contrary. Philadelphia had numerous turnover issues last year that counting on two newcomer playmakers to lead the charge isn’t actually an issue. It won 28 games with Embiid only suiting up 31 occasions, and the two numbers are likely to trend up going forward, especially with more thickness surrounding the gifted center.
But incremental improvement remains far more probable than a massive leap from deep in the lottery to above .500.
