One day after Detroit traded the tight end to New England on Thursday in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2020, the pact was voided.
Roberts was reverted to the Lions’ roster and was waived, the team confirmed Friday.
Roberts battled injuries in Detroit, which triggered his effect on the field during his two seasons. The 2017 fourth-round select compiled just 100 receiving yards last season.
Though the transaction did not fully materialize, Roberts might end up linking the tight end-needy Patriots via the waiver wire at no cost to their future draft picks.
