The Chicago Cubs played over the road last night, as they dropped their second at San Diego. I really don’t know exactly what it is, however with shedding on the road fast Joe Maddon must determine their problem. They are likely going to be traveling to play with at the Wild Card Game Should they do hit the postseason.
Before that possible matchup, the Cubs have to get into the postseason. That is going to need a few wins. They have only a half game advantage over the Milwaukee Brewers, so it is no promise that the Cubs are playing in the postseason.
Following this show in San Diego, the Cubs will return to Wrigley Field to get an important struggle against the Cardinals. They’re fortunate to play host to the Reds, and it will be a run from a team who’ve struggled on the street. After that things are going to find tricky to the Cubs.
The Cubs play with their six games on the road, including a three-game remain in St. Louis against the division-leading Cardinals. That’s not likely to be a simple weekend to wrap up the regular life and their postseason chances may come down to that. A strong push within another few weeks and the Cubs might be battling for the NL Central and not a wildcard.
Caring for business will help. Yu Darvish, that has been pitching as a Ranger in his finest since his period, will get the nod in this one. The Padres are expected to go with newcomer Dinelson Lamet against Darvish. Head below for our complimentary Cubs vs. Padres pick.

Yu Darvish had heard that the complaint levied by observers regarding his lack of success against him the last couple of years. If he did not have such high expectations and receiving paid the money he is then things would be OK. But, Darvish is assumed to be one the top pitchers in the major leagues. And certainly, that has not been the case for him the past two seasons. Having said that, Darvish has shown flashes of people considered in him to begin with.
Darvish was looking great lately, with enabled in his past 13 innings pitched. In three out of the previous four outings, Darvish was right on stage with no runs allowed. Thus, the talent and ability is still there with Darvish. I think it’s more psychological with him. Whatever the situation is at Wrigley Field, Darvish has never been at home at his best in Chicago.
He’s looked much better on the road in 2019. In 87.1 innings functioning as a guest, Darvish has recently posted an ERA of 3.30 and 1.03 WHIP. Compare this with his campaign in your home, in which his figures have gone south for a 5.14 ERA along with 1.26 WHIP.
He will be against an opponent that have been useless against him Thursday. The Padres have haven’t have a lot of routine against Darvish, as they’ve been fooled for a .176 batting average in 51 at-bats. Darvish includes a day against the Padres here.
Lamet has never been particularly great in San Diego. One would believe the friendly ballpark of pitcher would assist the youngster, but he’s chosen to pitch the street. Lamet holds a 4.85 ERA in PetCo as opposed to some 3.19 ERA on the street. Lamet may not enjoy flying in San Diego, however that I think Darvish is about Thursday. I’m siding into the Cubs with Darvish back track and salvage this string with a split.
